I had a $20 Groupon that I bought for $10 for Pinkberry so I decided to give it a try. It was pretty busy when we arrived. Inside Pinkberry at Metrotown, they have only a few seats, and they were full. So we decided to line up and get our ice cream and then eat at the food court.
The Menu / Value
It seems like Pinkberry and Qoola (also another frozen yogurt company located at Metrotown) is relatively similar. When you arrive at Pinkberry, you have the option of choosing a size of ice cream. They have extra small, small, medium and large and also a 25OZ take home size for around $10. Toppings come at about $2 more on top of the price of the ice cream size. Unlike Qoola, Pinkberry is not self-serve, so the clerk actually makes the ice cream for you and puts the topping on the ice cream. There is a wide variety to choose from. There is Candy to fruits (Blackberry, Kiwi, Strawberries and etc...) to things like chocolate and nuts.
The Basic cice cream comes in 6 flavours: Original, Chocolate, Coconut, Mango, and (two others I don't remember). So the selection is not big.
What I find is that if the clerk isn't busy, you may get more ice cream. Because Pinkberry is sold by the size and not the weight, sometimes, depending on how busy they are, QOOLA is cheaper. Compared to Qoola, they taste similar. The taste isn't very special. Overall, without the Groupon, I would say the Pinkberry is abit Pricey. That said, if your sweet tooth is tingling and you are also at the food court, Pinkberry is a good place to try out.
However, the 25OZ take home size seem pretty good though. Compared to the large size which was $6.95 for 13OZ, getting almost twice that amount for around $10 is a good deal.
Location
On the The Bay side of the Metrotown Food Court. It is pretty easy to find because from the outside, the decor looks abit like something you would find in Who-Ville (Dr. Seuss' The Grinch)
